Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Delhi

Directorate of Higher Education, NCT of Delhi was established in the year 1997 to promote Higher and professional education in the entire capital region. Prior to this the Directorate of Education of Govt. of NCT of Delhi was looking after Higher Education in addition to the school education (Secondary and Senior Secondary Education).

Since its inception, the Directorate has become a role model for the promotion of Higher Education in the entire National Capital Territory (NCT) region. The Department has so far taken several steps for promoting higher education in the state. It has established several institutes of excellence including Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) New Delhi and Twenty-eight Govt. sponsored colleges. The Directorate has launched various schemes for students including scholarships, coaching facility and sports facility.

The Directorate of Higher Education has many plans and dreams in the coming years for imparting quality college Education to the younger generation of the NCT region.

New Schemes by DHE

Award for Meritorious Student: The objective of this scheme is to institute an award for meritorious students pursuing general stream education in Government Colleges with a view to encouraging the spirit to excel, and recognizing the merit.

Special Coaching Facility: The objective is to provide specialized coaching for Combined Entrance Test for Medical, Engineering, Architecture, and Law courses to needy and deserving students studying in Government schools.

Introduction of New Courses: The objective of this scheme is to introduce new courses in thrust areas and environment related fields. The new courses are being introduced in various colleges located in the NCT region.

Promotion of Sports Facility: Under this plan, university colleges are being provided with sports/games goods and other infrastructural amenities.
