Each year, thousands of students from all across the country descend upon Delhi with a common dream of pursuing quality education in various colleges of Delhi. After proving their mettle in various entrance exams and passing through various cut-off lists, students look for various accommodation options in Delhi.

Though all the major universities in Delhi like University of Delhi (DU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Jamia Millia University (JMU) , Jamia Hamdard,  Amity University and Rai University offer various accommodation  facilities to a large number of students but still they are unable to cater to needs of all the students. These hostels being very limited have very few seats, majority of the students are left with no choice but to arrange for their own accommodation.

But there is hardily any reason to lose hope as Delhi is also home to a large number of accommodation options to suit every pocket of out-of-town students.

North Delhi is the most important destination for most students since the North Campus boosts of some of the best colleges of Delhi. Students in this locality can find PG accommodations from as low as Rs. 1500 to Rs. 6000 per person per month. The charges depend on whether food and laundry services are availed and also on electricity usage and other charges. Since this a mainly student-dominated area the landlords here too, do not interfere much with the students lives and there are also several popular places to hangout in the nearby Kamla Nagar area.

For students looking at colleges in the South campus there are PG options available in areas like South Extension, Greater Kailash, Sarojini Nagar, etc. which offer  accommodation  ranging from Rs. 2500 to Rs. 8000. Of late, Satya Niketan is one place that has emerged as hotspot for PG accommodations in South campus and is very popular students from the North-East.

Talking about Central Delhi where the PGs are targeted largely at the office goers as well as the students, rates vary from RS. 4000 around Paharganj to Rs. 10000 and more, for places like Connaught Place. In Eastern Delhi accommodation is comparatively cheaper with places like Laxmi Nagar available for Rs. 3000-6000 per month inclusive of food.  

In West Delhi, students can try out options, ranging from a wide bracket of Rs. 3000-14000, depending entirely on the location of the accommodation.  Students are also advised to search for the best bargain as huge differences exists in accommodation charges in both East Patel Nagar and west Patel Nagar. Students say, the rentals in West Patel Nagar are half that of the rentals in East Patel Nagar.

A word of advice for woman students-do take into account the safety factor also besides factors such as cost of traveling to University, etc.
