DU - Add on Courses

As the name suggests, Add-On Courses give students an edge in the intensely competitive job market by equipping them with skills that they may not get with an honors or integrated programme. The add-on courses are a type of part-time course conducted by different colleges of Delhi University.

The short duration of the programme and the wide variety of options has made these courses extremely popular among students.

According to the opinion of the DU Add On Course Committee, there is implementation of the policy that no college should be permitted to offer more than seven to eight shot-term programs and the duration of these particular programs should not go over three months. Moreover, the subject line, course fee, timings of the particular course should be clearly enlisted in the college website along with the faculty of the respective course. For your better understanding about the Add On Courses under DU, there are various colleges which are offering Add On courses.

Courses ranging from Print Media, Accounting, Finance, Nano-Technology, Aviation, Mass Communication, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Gender : Analysis and Interrogation, Mathematics Skills and Everyday Life Problems, Foreign Languages and much more are on offer.

Here is name of some of the colleges which provide this type of short term courses, such as, Ramjas College provided 26 courses, Venkateshwara College provides four courses whereas Gargi college provides 12 courses. Certain numbers of colleges outsource the faculty from the private institutions for these courses.
Generally, a three to six month duration programme, these courses are organized by the colleges with help from private organizations or the University Grants Commission (UGC).
