Vivekanand College

Vivekanand College was established by Government of Delhi in 1970. This is a women’s college. The main aim of this college is to provide higher education to women candidates in Trans Yamuna region of New Delhi. The college comes under the administrative control of Delhi University (DU).

Earlier this college was functioning from Gandhi Nagar and later shifted to sylvan surroundings of Vivek Vihar. The foundation stone of the present building was laid by Prof. S. Nurul Hasan on 25 October, 1976.

Vivekanand College offers under graduate programs leading to the award of bachelor degree in sciences, commerce and arts. At post graduate level only arts courses are offered. Besides, college also offers certificate courses on part time basis. The college believes in overall developments of learners. To give them an edge facilities for sports and games and other co curricular and extra curricular activities are also offered.

Out station students may avail hostel facilities of Vivekanand College. Though numbers of seats in these hostels are limited and admission is offered on the basis of merit. The college hostels are equipped with mess, communication and facilities for entertainment etc. These hostels are safe and secure and offer conditions of a home away from home.
