Zakir Hussain PG Evening College is a unit of Zakir Hussain College. The college comes the under the administrative control of University of Delhi (DU). It has distinction of being oldest college in Delhi. Following are mentioned some facts about this historic college.
  • Zakir Husain College is one of the oldest colleges of Delhi University (DU) and has a long and memorable historic past.
  • It was founded in the year 1792 by Ghaziuddin Feroz Jung as a Madarsa and changed into Delhi College in 1825.
  • Later on, after integration with Lahore College it was renamed Anglo-Arabic College.
  • It became a P.G. college in 1943.
  • Post independence in 1948, Delhi College was revived in the same building as the original Madarsa Ghaziuddin.
  • Evening classes began in 1958; however, the college got its present name in 1975.
  • The Prime Minister of India heads the Zakir Husain Memorial Trust which looks after the affairs of the college.
  • The college shifted to its present building in 1991.
