Some of the frequently asked questions about admissions at Delhi University have been answered below :


What all certificates are required for taking admission through the sports quota?

A. One should have the certificates for his/her performance at the zonal, state, national, international level. The candidate must have also a won a position to secure admission under this category.


What are the rules for the extra-curricular quota? Do the same rules apply there also?

A. Yes, the same rules apply there also. But students should have a relevant certificate for the last four years in the field in which he/she has excelled like dance, drama, music, debates etc.


For securing admission through sports or the extra-curricular quota do we need to fill a separate form?

A. For getting admission through sports or extra-curricular quota, students should fill the separate form of the college in which they like to take admission through the quota.


Is horse-riding a part of sports quota?

A. No, horse riding is not considered by any of the DU Colleges under sports quota.


Can I opt for two ECA quotas at one time?

A. You have to check this with the different colleges or the colleges in which you want to apply.


Does DU provide reservation for Delhi students?

A. No. DU is a central university so it does not give reservation to Delhi students, but 2 to 5% reservation is given by some colleges to girls so that they are encouraged to take admission in the co-ed colleges.


Can we include two languages in the best of four?

A. No you can take only one language. And as the medium of instructions in DU is mostly English, so if any other language other than English is included 2% are deducted.


By filling the pre-common admission form only, one can also apply for the entrance tests of various colleges?

A. No, for applying to the entrance test conducted by any college students should fill a separate form issued by that college.


Is hostel facility available at all the DU colleges?


A. The hostel facility is provided by few DU colleges. One has to apply separately to the colleges for availing the hostel facility.


Can we fill two common admission forms?

A. Well it is not necessary. One should try to accommodate all the colleges and courses of his choice in one form.


For professional courses also is it sufficient to fill the common admission form?

A. Well, students can apply for the professional courses by filling the common admission form but if any professional course has an entrance test, then students will have to submit a separate form of that college.


Can a student pursue another degree course while pursuing a degree at DU?

A. No, a student can't pursue another full time degree course while doing BA from the university. But a student can do an add-on course or a part time course.


How to apply for B Ed program?

A. Students should collect the admission form from the Central Institute of Education for applying to the course.


Defense quota is applicable for?

A. A student is eligible for the defense quota only if the father of the student was killed in action or was permanently disabled on duty, not otherwise.


Does any college of DU conduct entrance test for the biotechnology course?

A. Yes, Venkateswara College offers B.Sc. in biotechnology and it conducts entrance test for admitting students.


Which colleges in DU offer microbiology?

A. The colleges in DU which offer courses in microbiology are Gargi College, Institute of Home Economics, Swami Shraddhanand College and Ram Lal Anand College.


Does DU provide a course in biotechnology?

A. No. DU doesn't has any course at the bachelors level for biotechnology.
