Delhi Technological University (DTU) - Introduction

Delhi Technological University (DTU) or DelTech started its journey as Delhi Polytechnic in 1940 to train students for the rising needs of Indian industries. The polytechnic then consisted of a High School and Specialized Senior Departments which includes- Arts, Architecture, Commerce, Engineering, Applied Sciences (Chemical Engineering & Technology) and Textiles.

Prof. D.S. Kothari took the initiative to start Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree courses in Delhi Polytechnic. The Delhi University (DU) provided the affiliation to Delhi Polytechnic and B.E degree certificates were awarded in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Textile Engineering in 1952.

In 1965, Delhi Polytechnic was renamed as Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) and it’s considered as Top Engineering College in India. The college excelled in the fields of education and research; its alumni’s proven their worth world over. Today one can find DCE alumni in every sector, government, private, education, business, industry, finance and IT to name a few.

In the end of year 2009, the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) got the status of a University and renamed as Delhi Technological University (DTU) also called DelTech. At present, DelTech offers under graduate, post graduate and research programs through following departments-

DelTech is a residential university and offers following facilities to its community members-

There are 9 Boys and 3 Girls Hostels in DelTech campus to accommodate 1100 Boys and 250 Girls candidates. List of DelTech Hostels are given here-

The mess facilities are offered in four of the hostels, viz Sir Visversvaraya Hostel, Bhaskaracharya Hostel Sir C. V. Raman Hostel and Sister Nivediata Hostel. These provide mess facilities to all the students living in the campus. All hostels are connected to the campus via the campus wide wi-fi network.
