CATE 2012 - Common Aptitude Test for English is conducted by
Delhi University (DU) for admission to BA (Hons) English in DU colleges. Based on CATE scores, students are admitted to various colleges for undergraduate courses in English in Delhi University.
CATE 2012 DATES
- Common Aptitude Test for English (CATE) 2012 application forms will be available from: May 25, 2012
- CATE 2012 application forms will be available at twenty-one colleges of DU till: June 04, 2012
- CATE is scheduled to be conducted on: June 09, 2012

CATE 2011 Dates
- CATE 2011 will be conducted on June 5, 2011 (Sunday) from 2pm to 3.30 pm.
- Sale and Receipt of forms at designated centres: 16th of May to 26th of May, 2011
- Declaration of CATE Score (on University Website): 13th of June, 2011 (Monday)

CATE 2012 Eligibility
There has been some relaxation this year in the eligibility criteria for writing the examination and hence the General category students will require 45 per cent marks in best of four subjects in Class 12 instead of the 60 per cent required last year.
The eligibility criterion for OBC category is 40.5 per cent and for the physically challenged candidates, it is 40 per cent. For SC/ST categories, the eligibility criteria required is passing marks in the class 12 examination.

CATE 2012 Application Form
The OMR (Optical Mark Reader) Application Form along with the Information Bulletin will be available at all institutions designated above for the same and receipt of forms between 16th and 26th May, 2011 on payment of Rs.300/- through a bank draft drawn in favour of The Registrar, University of Delhi, drawn on any branch of the following banks :

- Punjab National Bank
- ICICI Bank
- HDFC Bank
Please note that drafts from any of the subsidiary State Banks (for example, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Travancore etc. will not be accepted. The drafts should be payable at Delhi.

CATE Eligibility Criteria
- You must have passed Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent, from any recognized state/national Board.
- You should have passed the qualifying examination with not less than 60% marks in the subject of English.
- You must have also obtained minimum of 60% marks in aggregate, in the best of four subjects. (Your best of four subjects may include: Marks in English + any 3 academic subjects (including languages) OR Marks in English + any 2 academic subjects (including languages) + 1 vocational subject)
- If you are awaiting your Class 12th results, you can still apply
CATE Syllabus
There is no fixed syllabus for CATE. Students will be tested on their creative writing skills and their aptitude for literature.

How many colleges are participating in Common Aptitude Test in English 2012?21 colleges are participating in CATE 2012. They will accept CATE scores to admit students to BA (English - Hons) in their respective colleges.
Will the colleges give weightage to Class 12 results to admit students to English Hons courses?The participating colleges will be giving 70% weightage to the CATE score and 30% to your Board performance.
What is eligibility criteria for CATE?Any student with minimum 60% aggregate and at least 60% marks in English in 10+2 is eligible to apply for CATE.
When will CATE 2012 results be declared?CATE 2012 results will be published in DU website the month of June, 2012 and first cut-off list wil be published in mid-June, 2012.

....In second yr we hope she scores good as it will open a door to migrate from that college.Please let me know the procedures so that we can start preparing from today. Because it has become necessity to change the college as she says that the boys pass comments, tease and some times they grab away things from her, as well as please also let me know what kind of action should i take.

My sister studies in Deshbandhu college and is good at her academics as well as extra curricular activities. She is always upset and annoyed with the boys who study in that college as they act very cheaply and don't behave descently (not all boys but few of them).Which i think is affecting her personality as well as studies too. Because of this she regularly falls ill nowadays. Despite of good result in all subjects she was not able to take a subject exam in 1st yr as she felt ill. In second yr we hope she
