DU Entrance Exams

Admission to various programs in DU is based on entrance tests.

CATE - Common Aptitude Test For English

If you wish to apply for BA (H) English in DU, you have to appear for the Common Aptitude Test for English (CATE) conducted by the Department of English, Delhi University. As many as 17 colleges have registered for CATE which includes Lady Shri Ram College and Miranda House.

Note: CATE forms are separate from the Common Admission forms. Common Pre-Admission Form is not applicable where admission is through entrance test.

CATE 2011 dates are given in this section. CATE 2012 dates will be uploaded soon

  • CATE 2011 will be conducted on June 5, 2011 (Sunday) from 2pm to 3.30 pm.
  • Sale and Receipt of forms at designated centres: 16th of May to 26th of May, 2011
  • Declaration of CATE Score (on University Website): 13th of June, 2011 (Monday)
  • Declaration of First Cut-Off List 15th of June, 2011 (Wednesday)

B.El.Ed - Bachelor of Elementary Education
B.El.Ed or Bachelor of Elementary Education is a four year integrated professional course aimed at providing qualified teachers a the elementary level. Besides subject knowledge, this program integrates study of human development, knowledge of communication skills and teaching methods.

Eligibility: 10 2 from CBSE or any equivalent examination

  • Submission of form by post from CIE: May 22, 2012 to June 01, 2012
  • Written Test: June 24, 2012

  • List of candidates called for Entrance test will be posted on CIE website(http://www.cie.du.ac.in): May 28, 2012 (Monday, 4:00 pm)
  • List of candidates called for Interviews as per schedule to be displayed on the CIE website (http://www.cie.du.ac.in): June 15, 2012 (Friday)
  • Interviews of the selected candidates: June 19, 2012 to June 22, 2012 and June 23 (if needed)
  • Display of first list of candidates selected for admission: July 03, 2012 (Tusday, 4:00 pm)
  • Payment of dues by the candidates of first list: July 04, 2012 to July 06, 2012 (by 1:00 pm)
  • Display of second list of candidates (if need arises): July 07, 2012(Saturday, 4:00 pm)
  • Payment of dues by the candidates of second list: July 09, 2012 and July 10, 2012(by 1:00 pm)
  • Display of third list of candidates (if need arises): July 11, 2012 (Wednesday) (11:00 am)
  • Payment of dues by the candidates of third list: July 11, 2012 and July 12, 2012 (by 1:00 pm)
  • Classes commences on: July 16, 2012 (Monday, 9:00 am) 

B. Ed & B.El.Ed 2012 Application Form

 Application forms have to be sent to Dean, Faculty of Education, Delhi Uniersity, delhi-07, with he name of the course on he envelope alongwith:

1. One Bank Draft of Rs. 525/- for general category and Rs. 375/- for SC/ST/Physically handicapped from a Nationalised Bank, payable at Delhi, in favour of Registrar, University of Delhi.

2. A self-addressed envelope (29.5 x 21 cm) Retain phtocopy of the draft for entry in the application form.

Prospectus and application forms are available for Rs. 450/- for general category and Rs. 300/- for SC/ST /Physically  handicapped(only cash), at the following branches of State Bank of India: North campus, Delhi University, Gargi College, Shahdara, Dwarka Sector - 11, Prashant Vihar & Connaught Place, B-Block.

Prospectus and forms for SC/ST/Physically handicapped will b available will be available only at SBI branch (North Campus), Delhi University.

L.L.B. - Bachelor of Law

Candidate must show the Admit Card bearing Roll No. whenever asked to by the Examination
Centre officials. The Entrance Test Paper will have 175 Objective Type Questions with Multiple Choice Answers on - English Language Comprehension, Analytical Abilities, Legal Awareness and Aptitude and General Knowledge. For Delhi University L.L.B. 2012 Application From, Click Here.

LLB 2012 Exam Dates

  • L.L.B. Entrance Test : June 10, 2012 at 10.00 a.m.(Sunday)

B.A. (Hons) Patrakarita Evam Jansanchar

It is a three year intensive full-time programme for all those who wish to pursue journalism in Hindi. A common entrance test is conducted for the purpose of admission to this course. In addition to the entrance test, the candidate also needs to have a minimum score of 55% at the higher secondary level. It is manadatory that candidates should have stuided Hindi at class 10th level. The course is offered by four colleges in Delhi University, namely Ram Lal Annad College, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, and Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College.

  • Date of advertisement inviting applications: May 15, 2012
  • Last Date to submit Application Form: June 20, 2012 (upto 3:00 pm)
  • Date of Entrance Exam: June 23, 2012 (Saturday 2:00 pm)

    ....In second yr we hope she scores good as it will open a door to migrate from that college.Please let me know the procedures so that we can start preparing from today. Because it has become necessity to change the college as she says that the boys pass comments, tease and some times they grab away things from her, as well as please also let me know what kind of action should i take.

    My sister studies in Deshbandhu college and is good at her academics as well as extra curricular activities. She is always upset and annoyed with the boys who study in that college as they act very cheaply and don't behave descently (not all boys but few of them).Which i think is affecting her personality as well as studies too. Because of this she regularly falls ill nowadays. Despite of good result in all subjects she was not able to take a subject exam in 1st yr as she felt ill. In second yr we hope she
