Reservation of Seats in Delhi University (DU)

Reservation for SC/ST Candidates in DU:
Among total number of seats, 22 ½ % is reserved for candidates who are belonging to SC/ ST category. This complete reservation is divided into two parts, generally 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates. This percentage is interchangeable if it is required in any case.

If as a candidate you belong to both SC/ ST category then you will be registered provided you have qualified in the last qualifying examination. But at the same time you have to fulfill all sorts of necessary criteria for admission.

If you belong to the SC/ST category, then you will get 5% relaxation on the minimum qualifying marks.

If after giving this relaxation seats remain empty, then the college authority can consider about giving further relaxation to fill up the reserved seats.
If there is not sufficient number of SC/ST candidates to fill up the prescribed seats, then those vacant places will be filled up by candidates who have specific prior approval from the Delhi University authority.

Here one thing has to be kept in mind that if you, being a SC/ST candidate, have obtained enough marks to take admission under the open merit list, then you will not be considered to be a part of the reserved quota.
