Indian Law Institute
The Indian Law Institute (ILI) was founded in 1956 primarily with the objective of promoting and conducting legal research. The objectives of the Institute as laid down in its Memorandum of Association are to cultivate the science of law, to promote advanced studies and research in law so as to meet the social, economic and other needs of the Indian people, to promote systematization of law, to encourage and conduct investigations in legal and allied fields, to improve legal education, to impart instructions in law, and to publish studies, books, periodicals, etc. The Indian Law Institute is headed by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India. Today the Institute has own building, built on one and half acre of land at Bhagwandas Road, New Delhi. The Institute is also having huge multi-storied building with 100 rooms approximately. It has its own Annexe consisting of 16 rooms which comprises of a hostel for visiting research scholars and four rooms on the ground floor for the employees of the Indian Law Institute (ILI). The Institute's Library is one of the best libraries in the country. It has more than 75000 titles. It subscribes to 270 current legal periodicals. Today JILI is regarded as one of the leading law journal of the country. ASIL contains surveys written by academicians and practitioners. Eligibility Criteria: Eligibility criteria for LLB is 50% marks, degree in any discipline for all Post Graduate Diploma except Diploma in Labour Law.
