National Law University (NLU) - Entrance Examination

National Law University (NLU), New Delhi conducts various entrance examinations. Read below for details:

All India Entrance Examination for 5 Year BA, LLB Hons Program

ELIGIBILITY: Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 System) or equivalent Examination with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate (those who have appeared in the examination in March/April, 2009 can also apply)

AGE LIMIT: Below 21 years as on 1st July, 2009 (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates)

TOTAL SEATS: 80 (eighty) [70 (Seventy) seats on merit through All India Entrance Examination and 10 (ten) seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit]. Foreign Nationals to be eligible should have 65% marks in the qualifying examination.

RESERVATION:  15% for SC Candidates, 7.5% for ST Candidates, 3% for Persons with Disabilities.

SCHOLARSHIPS: The National Law University (NLU), New Delhi offers financial assistance for the meritorious and needy candidates.

Examination Centers: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Patna

Exam Pattern:

Pattern of the Test Paper
  • Total Marks : 150
  • Total number of questions : 150
  • Duration of the Examination  : 1 hour 30 minutes
Subject areas and marks distribution
English: 35 Marks
General Knowledge: 35 Marks (Current Affairs, General Science, History, Geography, Economics, Civics)       
Legal Aptitude: 35 Marks
Reasoning: 35 Marks
Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability): 10 Marks

Important:
  • The candidate shall secure minimum of 40% (30% for SC and ST candidates) of the total marks in the All India Entrance Test to become eligible for the admission.       
  • If two or more candidates secure the same percentage of marks in the Entrance Test, their merit will be determined on the basis of % of marks in the qualifying examination.
  • If the merit remains the same, then the marks of X standard will be taken into consideration.  If still there is no change in rank, then the higher in age shall get preference.      
  • At least 30% of the total seats shall be filled by eligible horizontal reservation for women candidates including those selected in reserved and foreign national categories.
