Directorate of Training - Union Territory Civil Services (UTCS)

The Directorate of Training [also known as the Directorate of Union Territories Civil Services (UTCS)] New Delhi is an apex-training center, originally established by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India in 1963. The administrative control was transferred to Govt. of NCT of Delhi in April 1974.

Its main responsibility is to provide foundation trainings, induction trainings and mid-career trainings to the officers of the Government of NCT of Delhi (GNCTD) and its local/autonomous bodies and corporations.

UTCS also trains the IAS probationers of the Arunachal Pradesh–Goa–Mizoram–Union Territories (AGMUT ) cadre, probationers of the Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshwadeep Islands Civil Services (DANICS) and those selected through the Delhi Subordinate Staff Selection Board.

Through these training services (done through workshops, discussion panels etc.), it aims to improve the efficiency, skills and responsiveness of these officials, thus improving the administration of the state.
