CATE 2013
The Common Aptitude Test for English (CATE) is conducted by Delhi University (DU) for admission to BA (Hons) English in DU colleges. Based on CATE scores, students are admitted to various colleges for undergraduate courses in English in Delhi University.

CATE was introduced by DU in 2009 as a centralised test to check and evaluate a student's aptitude for studying an English programme like BA (Hons) English. CATE 2010 saw 12 colleges' participation; in 2011 there were 17 colleges that admitted students in their English (Hon) programme through CATE and 21 colleges (including Indraprastha College for Women, Hindu College, Miranda House, Kamla Nehru College, Lady Shri Ram) had used CATE 2012 scores for their admission procedures.

CATE 2012 Application Form
The OMR (Optical Mark Reader) Application Form along with the Information Bulletin will be available at all institutions designated above for the same and receipt of forms between May 25, 2012 to June 04, 2012, on payment of Rs.350/- through a bank draft drawn in favour of The Registrar, University of Delhi, drawn on any branch of the following banks :

- HDFC Bank
Please note that drafts from any of the subsidiary State Banks (for example, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Travancore etc. will not be accepted. The drafts should be payable at Delhi.

How many colleges are participating in Common Aptitude Test in English 2012?
21 colleges are participating in CATE 2012. They will accept CATE scores to admit students to BA (English - Hons) in their respective colleges.
Will the colleges give weightage to Class 12 results to admit students to English Hons courses?
The participating colleges will be giving 70% weightage to the CATE score and 30% to your Board performance.
What is the eligibility criteria for CATE?
Any student with minimum 60% aggregate and at least 60% marks in English in 10+2 is eligible to apply for CATE.
When will CATE 2012 results be declared?
CATE 2012 results will be published in DU website latest by June 25, 2012 and first cut-off list will be published in mid-June, 2012.
Will there be a second merit list for CATE 2012?
No, there will be only one and final merit list that will be published for all categories of candidates.
